About the Committee

NIBTC Committee - 2022/23
Here is a list of our members & their roles in the club with a few words about them.

Heidi Holland (Waihi) - President / Bulletin Editor
I’ve been a club member since 1986 and on committee since 1987. Back then we were still the Auckland Bull Terrier Club. My husband Deane and I live on the East Coast at the base of the Coromandel peninsula. Deane is to blame for my Bull Terrier obsession and shares our home with several of them, plus two Mini bulls.

Pip McVicar (New Plymouth) - Vice President / Bulletin Editor
Since purchasing our first bull terrier in 2005 I have proudly been involved with the NIBTC. I started off showing our dog 'Cloud' and progressed to breeding eventually under the prefix 'Bulltanica'. I am Taranaki based and look forward to having some local events this coming year. It's been quite a journey with the club thus far and I look forward to being a part of its future.

Linda Flegg (Katikati) - Treasurer / Trophies / Pointscore
I got my first bully in 1996 from Boromir Kennels, which was the beginning of I guess what you could call an addiction. My husband and I live in rural Katikati and I help running the family business which grows kiwifruit and avocados.

I have been involved in the running of the club since I joined in 1996 and have held various positions, but mainly look after the dollars and cents, preparing the club’s financial records and processing payments. We currently have four bullies living with us, Bree, Mully, Scarlett and Verdi.

Onj Koloamatangi - Secretary
I’ve had my arm twisted to stand for secretary this year so heres a little about myself. Currently living and enjoying life in Waitara but work mainly in New Plymouth. My first experience with bullies was through a friend when I was younger, who had two, Sigh and Mitch. First impressions....'what are they? They're so ugly and why would you want one?

After owning a few dogs, throughout my life, and my current dog who had now attached herself to her dad, I was on the hunt for another so thought Id give bull terriers a go. Had no clue what I was in for. This is when PaPi a boisterous white bull terrier would enter our lives and take us on a wild journey. Sadly our boy grew his wings over a year ago which broke all our hearts and we miss him so much. The effect of our PaPi leaving created a huge gap and its taken me time to heal and be emotionally prepared for my next special BT. I mean two. (Pip assures me it's going to be a show dog, so we all know where this is leading).

In the meantime I am god mum/aunty/treat giver/adventure lady to 4 other special dogs, one BT, our tripod pug, and the neighbours 2 dogs who sleepover regularly. I’ve always wanted to attend a BT show so this October in Rotorua will be my first introduction of what my future may look like, make some new friends and overload on bullterrier cuteness. See you all there!

Kate Ward
I’m a dancer by trade and passion. I look after a team of dancers across NZ delivering dance to primary and intermediate schools. As well as teaching dance I teach pole fit and spend most of my spare time at pole. I have owned 2 mini bull terriers and currently have the lovely Kodi who is a regular at pole with me! I truthfully never expected to own a bull terrier (I actually wanted a griffin) but here I am 10 years later in love with their stubborn and loving personality and a committee member of the NIBTC for many years now.

Jo Davies
I’ve been on the NIBTC committee for 3 years now, but attended quite a few bully walks prior to that. I live in rural Northland with two dogs (a rescue Bull Terrier and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier) a cat, and two pet sheep.

Angela Whiteman
I live in a rural town in Franklin. We got our first Bull Terrier in 2005 and loved the breed ever since. After the passing of our first bull terrier in 2017 we contacted Heidi, and we were lucky enough to be chosen to house 2 Bull Terrier Miniatures, Enzo, and then Nova. Over the last few years, I have been on the committee and was the secretary for a few years. Taking some time off being secretary to be a committee member for this next year, while work commitments take off. The club feels like a second family, with much knowledge to pass on.

Stephen Hill-Haas
Hello to all English Bull Terrier owners!
Some of you may know me as the organiser of the Auckland Bully Walks at Orewa Beach. My name is Stephen, and I currently live in Mairangi Bay, Auckland. I am the owner of East, an 8-year-old male Bully! As a committee member, I would be very keen to continue to contribute by hosting Auckland Bully walks on a regular basis. Not only do the walks help connect people and their Bull Terriers (not forgetting Bull Terriers connecting with each other), but they promote physical exercise for all involved! I am also happy to help co-ordinate regional Bully walks in areas outside Auckland. I will gladly welcome any ideas regarding the Bully walks, so please contact me with any suggestions.

Trina Farr
I'm Trina Far, and I’m currently riding the whirlwind that is Rye, my 11-month-old Bull Terrier Miniature, named after the whiskey (fitting, really). He's my first of the breed, and it's been a wild, hilarious, occasionally exhausting ride. From stubborn antics to sweet, unexpected moments of affection, Rye has brought both chaos and charm into my life. This journey has been anything but predictable and I wouldn’t have it any other way
